Orange. It’s a color you’d probably expect to find in your grocery basket before your makeup bag, but don’t limit this bold hue to the culinary.
A pop of orange can be playful, striking, and because is comes in a variety of shades, flattering on many different skin tones. While we love the look of an orange sunrise eye this spring, another easy way to work the hue into your beauty routine is with a powerful tangerine pout. We’re drawing inspiration from the runways of Jenny Packham, Missoni andMoschino, as they all topped off their Spring 2013 collections with perfectly punchy melon lips.
Here are a few MDC tips to keep in mind when you give this trend a whirl.
1. Consider Your Skin Tone
True orange shades look great on blondes and women with caramel-colored skin or darker, but medium and olive skin tones should opt for corals and reddish oranges.
2. Keep It Simple
When sporting a melon mouth it’s best to keep the rest of your look subtle. Avoid colorful shadows and opt for a natural lid or a simple swipe of your favorite mascara.
3. Go Matte
Get the bold impact without the smudge by opting for a matte lip. Check out our matte mouth tutorial for a simple step-by-step guide to perfecting your gloss-free pout.
