PRETTY AS A ROSE PETAL: HOW TO GET SPRING’S SWEETEST LIP LOOK

How to Get Springs Sweetest Lip Look
Who said romance was dead? This season’s petal-pink pout is the anti-red: Instead of screaming “sexy!”, it’s an alluringly romantic, rosy whisper. “The right shade shouldn’t take away from your natural lip color, but just add a bit more intensity to it, without looking like you’re really wearing color,” says makeup pro Dawn DeSantis.
Here are the do’s and don’ts of picking the loveliest bloom for you.
Do: Look inside your bottom lip—the color is just a bit darker than the rest of your mouth. Match that to a lipstick and you’ve found your perfect pink!
Don’t: Get frosty. Whether you go for a creamy, translucent, or glossy finish, stay away from frost or shimmer so you stay true to the flower-petal effect.
Do: Go for a dewey gloss with just a tint of pink if you have an olive or dark complexion. Since your lip color is naturally deeper, you can go for just a subtle wash of color while your own pout is being played up with shine. Try L’Oreal Colour Juice Lip Gloss in Watermelon Crush.
Don’t: Go lighter than your natural lip color. “You know how when you run or exercise, you get flushed, rosy cheeks? That’s the look you want, but on your lips,” says DeSantis.
Do: Smooth on a blue-based pink like Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor in Pink Peony if you’re fair-skinned (or have pink undertones). It will make skin look luminous.
Don’t: Go heavy. Use one coat of lipstick or gloss straight from the tube. Or pat a creamy lipstick into your lips using your finger.
