It's no surprise that hair and make-up go hand in hand when creating the perfect beauty looks. When this dynamic duo is aligned, there's no telling what's possible! In my search for the best combination of both, I brought on celebrity hair stylist, Karmela Lozina of John Sahag Workshop NYC to give us the 4-1-1. Join us over the next few weeks as we style you through the hottest hair and make-up trends of the season! First up, the perfect slicked back ponytail.
Step 1: Rinse it!
Wash the hair with a straightening shampoo and conditioner that adds a sleek effect. Add a smoothing serum to the wet hair for a smooth and shiny finish after blowdrying.

Step 2: Slick it!
After blowdrying, pull the hair back into a ponytail and wrap with a tight band.
Take a small section of hair and wrap around the band to completely cover and add a clean detail to the look. Secure with a bobby pin.
Step 3: Spray it!
After the hair is entirely pulled back and secure, smooth fly-aways around the hair line with a small amount of anti-frizz serum, and set with a strong hold hairspray to keep the hair in place. Voila!
Expert Tip: You can flatiron sections of the ponytail to make it even more sleek and elongated.

When wearing this look, choose one feature to play up. I chose a bright red-orange lip, while keeping the eyes fresh and clean; and adding lots of mascara. A bold lip is a great way to incorporate color without taking away from the super chic hair.
