THE CURLY HAIR LOOK ANYONE CAN WEAR

If you woke up thinking today was just another Wednesday, think again. Garnier Fructis has officially dubbed August 14th Wear Your Hair Curly Day—a day to break out your waves, curls or corkscrews for a good cause. To celebrate, Garnier Fructis is making a donation to Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, in support of music education for young girls. Here at Team MDC we love a good cause—and a good curl—so you don’t have to ask us twice to celebrate! To honor the big day, here’s a guide to the curled hair look that looks amazing on everyone: beautiful, loose waves.
how to do loose waves on any hair type

How To: Straight Hair to Loose Waves

Step 1: Divide dry hair into 3 sections and clip. Unclip first section and take a 2-inch section of hair from the bottom. Spray it with Garnier Fructis Full Control Anti-Humidity Non-Aerosol Hairspray to hold the shape of your curl when you use your iron.
Step 2: Holding your medium barrel curling iron vertically, wrap the section of hair away from face without using the clamp.
Step 3: Hold hair around the iron for about three seconds, then release. Repeat on the rest and then let your curls cool.
Step 4: Scrunch the ends with Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Finishing Paste. Flip head over and shake to loosen those curls.
Step 5: Set the style. Spray with hairspray all over to lock in your curly hairstyle.

How To: Wavy Hair to Loose Waves

Step 1: Towel dry wet hair. Apply 3-4 puffs of Garnier Fructis Curl Construct Mousse from middle of hair to ends.
Step 2: Flip head over, and scrunch mousse into hair.
Step 3: Use a diffuser to blow-dry from roots to ends. Then hold the diffuser at the bottom, and dry upwards (hair should sit on top of the diffuser).
Step 4: Use a curling iron to perfect any rogue waves.

How To: Curly Hair to Loose Waves

Step 1: Apply Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Blow Dry Perfector Straightening Balm to towel-dried hair, then blow-dry straight and smooth with a round brush.
Step 2: Part hair to the side, divide into 4 sections and pin them up. Unpin the first section and take a two-inch piece (for manageability). Mist piece with Garnier Fructis Full Control Anti-Humidity Non-Aerosol Hairspray from roots to ends.
Step 3: Twist piece into a coil and clamp it with a flat iron. Hold for a few seconds, then release. Repeat on the rest of the unpinned section, then on the remaining sections.
Step 4: Pull on coils to loosen them, and then scrunch ends with Garnier Fructis Pure Clean Finishing Paste, to help define and shape waves.
Step 5: Smooth and finish your style with Sleek Finish 5-in-1 Serum Spray to lock in shine and resist frizz. Spray in an even motion about 10 inches away from head.
